WHOLE LARDER LOVE IN BOSTON

I've been a big admirer of Rohan's since I came across his blog a few years ago and I'm sure many of you are as well! He's made a pretty good (and well deserved) name for himself in this whole direct farm/garden to table food movement. So I was beyond thrilled when James of 10 Engines announced that Rohan would be coming to Boston (well, technically Somerville) on his book tour.

You should most definitely come to the Somerville Public Library on June 17th where Rohan will give a talk and discuss his book and so much more. James & the Friends of the Somerville Public Library have worked really hard to make this a great event so you definitely don't want to miss it. Plus there will be Island Creek Oysters! I know you can't say no to that.

See you there!

BRIMFIELD WEEK

Have to admit, I haven't always been a dedicated Brimfield attendee. It truly is an all day event and I see a lot of the vendors at other flea markets I frequent in New England, but it's also pretty hard to resist when you live so close and love old junky things. Also it's pretty darn hard to resist spending a day with my best friend moseying around and eating hot dogs. So Francesca and I made our way to the fields twice last week and came away with some pretty great finds! The most notable being the couch pictured above .. definitely didn't expect to find a new couch of all things .. but it's perfect! And was such a steal.

Francesca has a little cottage on the water a few towns over from Brimfield so we were able to get in a peaceful, early morning canoe ride. Can't wait to spend many more days in that canoe this summer!

EUGENE MARATHON

Well, I did it! Dedicated 4+ months to my life to training during the cold New England winter, stretching, yoga-ing, eating well, hydrating, and not drinking much booze.. and it all paid off! I finished the Eugene marathon in 3:29:39 .. which means beating my previous best time by 20 minutes, qualifying to run the Boston Marathon (this was my first time trying for it! The qualifying time for a woman my age is 3:35:00), and running faster than I ever thought I could. Race day was pretty darn perfect, and I couldn't have imagined a better outcome. Hard work really does pay off, and I truly can't wait to start training for Boston 2014.
